Questions about clothes and accessories vocabulary

What clothes words should beginners learn first?
Start with the pieces you put on every day: shirt, pants, dress, shoes and socks. Add seasonal items like coat and sweater when the weather changes. Accessories such as hat, scarf and belt come naturally once the basics are solid.
How do I teach put on, wear and take off?
Turn the three verbs into a morning routine: you put on a shirt, you wear it all day, and you take it off before bed. Acting the routine out with real clothes makes the difference obvious. Children learn fastest with their own jacket in hand.
Why do English speakers say a pair of pants?
Pants, shorts and jeans are plural in English because they were once made of two legs, so we say a pair of pants. The same logic applies to scissors with its two blades. Treat these words as plural even when you talk about a single item.
